Manchester United have asked Juventus about veteran Mario Mandzukic.
The clubs are locked in negotiations over a potential swap deal involving Paulo Dybala and United frontman Romelu Lukaku.
However, Tuttosport says a deal for Mandzukic is also in the pipeline.
Mandzukic only penned a new deal at the Old Lady in April, but is thought to favour a move elsewhere to increase his chances of playing time.
Should a swap deal involving both players be completed, it would leave United short of a target man in attack. Lukaku has often operated in that role at Old Trafford, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now thought to be considering Mandzukic as an option.
At 33-years-old, a deal for the Croatian is not likely to break the bank, which appeals to United, as they remain focused on using the baulk of their transfer kitty on other targets.
