Manchester United have requested Sporting CP midfielder Bruno Fernandes wait before they enter negotiations.
United and Tottenham are both keen to sign Fernandes this summer, with the Portugal international one of Europe's most in-demand players.
And the Telegraph says that the Red Devils are running the risk of missing out on Fernandes.
It is said they have told the Portugal international they need more time to get a deal done.
The Red Devils are facing stiff competition from Tottenham to secure the arrival of the 24-year-old.
United are understood to be working on a deal for Crystal Palace's Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is highly admired at Old Trafford.
