Manchester United and Sporting CP are still haggling over a price for Bruno Fernandes.
Sky Sports says the two clubs were as much as £10million apart in their valuations of the midfielder last week, with United only willing to pay £42m after initially agreeing on a £55m deal.
But United are expected to continue their pursuit of the 25-year-old before the transfer window closes on January 31 and will make an improved £46m offer on Monday.
It is understood Fernandes would like to join the Red Devils this month but he continues to feature in Sporting's first team and has played in each of the club's four matches in 2020.
Last week the player's agent Jorge Mendes flew to Manchester with Sporting's president, Frederico Varandas, and director of football, Hugo Viana, in hope of brokering a deal with United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
