Manchester United and Chelsea will have to wait another year if they hope to appoint Paul Mitchell in a behind the scenes role.
The highly regarded director is set to remain with Monaco for another year.
He currently serves as their director of football, and the club confirmed that he will report to their president Dmitry Rybolovlev this coming season.
According to The Sun, United were hoping to appoint Mitchell as a technical director working under John Murtaugh.
Chelsea were also interested in Mitchell, as they revamp their behind the scenes setup after their impending takeover.
However, Mitchell has a contract with Monaco, which means any new job will have to wait for another year at the very least.
