Manchester United are firming as favourites to land Sevilla defender Jules Kounde, according to Spanish media sources.

Mundo Deportivo says United have stiff competition for Sevilla defender Kounde from Barcelona.

The Catalan club have stepped up their interest in the 22-year-old Frenchman and are keen to land his signature ahead of United this summer.

Barcelona view Kounde as an ideal long-term replacement for Gerard Pique but could struggle to match United financially if they get into a bidding war.

Kounde has declared his priority is to play Champions League football next season.
