Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has defended "0.012%" social media post earlier this summer.
Critics felt the England striker's "0.012%" Instagram post, referring to the amount of young sports participants who reach the elite, was boastful.
Rashford disputes this, admitting that he didn't fully explain how the staggering stat humbled him.
The 21-year-old told The Times: "For me it was just about making people aware of how we can get more young English players playing in the Premier League, which is what we want.
"The problem was how I delivered the post: without context.
“People saw it as gloating because I gave no explanation.
"What I was actually trying to say was that I was extremely proud to be in a minority of players that make it to professional level.
"I was humbled and motivated. I'd never want people to think I take this position for granted.
"I've dreamt of doing this my entire life. It's a lesson learnt."
