Man Utd ace Pogba: My assists not so important

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has shrugged off his impressive stats this season.

Pogba has insisted that helping the team remains his top priority, opposed to increasing his tally of assists, despite a flying start to the season.

Pogba, who is out-of-contract at Old Trafford in less than a year's time, has enjoyed a flying start to the new Premier League campaign, contributing seven assists in United's first four league outings.

Pogba told Sky Sports : "This is not important. What is important is the consistency of the team and what we have been doing at the start of this season and we just have to keep this up.

"Assists come just like this and I think the most important thing, like I said, is the team performance. That is what helps me to get those assists.

"What I want is to just carry on, keep playing, keep giving my best for the team and just win games."

On the challenge of looking to bounce back against West Ham United this afternoon, following Tuesday's surprise defeat to Young boys in the UEFA Champions League, Pogba added: "We know, obviously, about the result. There is only one way to come back and hopefully today to get the win.

"Now it's passed, we know the mistakes we did, we know the performance we had and now we want to bounce back and that's today."
