Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has scoffed at claims of interest from Barcelona.

The Spaniard has been linked with Barca as they seek to replace former captain Andres Iniesta following his move to Vissel Kobe.

Mata is said to be a target for Barca, but his camp have rubbished the claims.

"Absolute b******s," was the response of a confidant when asked about the rumours.

Mata is vying to succeed the retired Michael Carrick as United captain next season.
