Manchester United and Portugal ace Bruno Fernandes has come out in support of Cristiano Ronaldo.
The latter was left out of Portugal's starting lineup against Switzerland for their World Cup round of 16 clash.
The Portuguese appeared to improve after Ronaldo's removal from the line-up, with replacement Goncalo Ramos scoring a hat-trick in a 6-1 win.
“Do you think anyone likes to be on the bench? I don't think Cristiano would be happy," Fernandes said to reporters.
“If the manager put me on the bench in the next game, I would be angry."
He added: “Cristiano is doing his job, he's doing his part, he's happy with the result because the goal for everyone is to go as far as possible."
