Manchester United ace Bruno Fernandes admits he came close to joining Tottenham.
Spurs tried to sign Fernandes before he left Sporting CP for United.
He recalled to the Athletic: “Obviously, I wanted to go to the Premier League. The coach, Mauricio Pochettino, was the one who wanted me there. It was a good offer, but Sporting did everything possible to keep me.
"The president (Frederico Varandas) talked to me, but he did it on the wrong day. It was the day after they decided to reject Tottenham's offer and I was very angry. Luckily for me, the manager (Marcel Keizer) was the right one at the right time because he knew and understood that I would like to go, that it was a bigger offer, that it was my dream to play in the Premier League and it didn't happen.
"Then I responded by doing my best for Sporting."
