Man Utd boss Ferguson insists Neville can still handle Premiership pace

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has no doubts about captain Gary Neville still coping with the pace of the Premiership.

Neville has struggled with injury over the last 18 months, but Ferguson, in his match notes for Saturday's 2-2 draw with Sunderland, wrote: "Injury has stopped Gary Neville from playing a lot, and when he does come in, he goes up and down that wing from full-back just as strongly as he did when he first came into the side."

Ferguson added: "Naturally I monitor them and as winter closes in, I'll give them breaks to make sure they stay on top of their game physically. That way they can continue to play their part in what we hope will be another great season."
