The Chelsea influence at Manchester City was a strong lure, admits John Terry.

Terry spoke of the "massive respect" he has for City manager Mark Hughes and his coaches Eddie Niedzwiecki and Kevin Hitchcock, who were all at Chelsea when he was emerging from the youth ranks.

"These people were at Chelsea with me. They were at my wedding," said Terry.

"Stories were written about me meeting them in Dubai but I was there anyway with my family and my kids. I've seen Kevin Hitchcock in Dubai for the last five years and Mark just happened to be there."
