Man City youngster Pablo Mari eager to stay with Deportivo La Coruna

Manchester City youngster Pablo Mari is impressing for Spanish Segunda Division Deportivo La Coruna.

Mari has recorded the highest passing accuracy of any player in Spain's second tier this season.

Mari has made 12 appearances this season, scoring once, with Depor on course for an immediate return to the top tier.

The Estadio Riazor outfit sit second in the table and Mari, who has completed 341 - or 92.7 per cent - of his 368 passes this term, says he is confident of securing promotion with his side just three points shy of leaders Alcorcón.

"I'm really enjoying my football at Depor this season and we are feeling really good about our chances of being in La Liga next season," the 25-year-old explained.

"We are playing well and getting better and better.

"The passing ranking is a nice number and to be honest I was quite surprised and pleased, but it's just the way I have always played - trying to keep possession and use the ball wisely."

Mari admits he'd like to stay next season.

“I hope that Deportivo and I will achieve our goals and that at the end of the season I will fix it with City and I can stay. I'm very happy and I think it's time to settle in one place and be four or five years in a club. Be calm and defend with maximum pride saying 'this is my team for many years'. A very important part of that will be to achieve promotion."
