Man City winger Bernardo Silva granted extension for FA charge

Bernardo Silva has been given more time to respond to an FA charge relating to 'racially insensitive' tweet to Manchester City teammate Benjamin Mendy.

Silva tweeted a photo of Mendy as a child and a dated image from Conguitos, a Spanish confectionary brand that has been criticised for having racist connotations.

The Portuguese was given until Wednesday, October 9 to provide a response, but Omnisport understands an extension of 12 days has been approved by the judicial panel.

Mendy himself, Raheem Sterling and Pep Guardiola have all defended Silva's character after the charge.

Silva could receive a fine and/or suspension if found guilty.
