Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey thinks that the pre-season friendly win over Manchester City will further help the North London club's preparations for the new season.

The Welshman made his first pre-season appearance for the Gunners in the 3-2 win in Gothenburg on Sunday which saw Arsene Wenger's side end their summer matches without defeat.

When asked if the game against City was a tough test, he told arsenal.com: "Of course.

"It's always a tough test against them, especially after going a goal behind as well in a pre-season game, but we did well to come back and win the game.

"This was preparation and a step in the right direction too. We'll benefit from that. We've got one week now to get the last bit out of us before it all kicks off again."

Arsenal host Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium in their 2016/17 Premier League season opener on Sunday.
