Spanish wonderkid Pelayo Morilla is being watched by Manchester City.

The Mirror says City are keeping tabs on Sporting Gijon starlet Morilla.

The 17-year-old midfielder is viewed as one of the hottest prospects in Spain's Segunda División, and City are said to have sent scouts to monitor his progress.

It is thought Morilla has 18 months left to run on his contract, and Sporting are keen to keep hold of the youngster who has made an impression on the first team this season with four substitute appearances.

Morilla, who is a Spain under-19 international, became the first player born this century to make his senior debut for the club earlier this campaign and has caught the eye with his bold displays as a no.10.
