Manchester City attempted several different angles to get a deal for Porto pair Fernando and Eliaquim Mangala over the line on Friday.

The Daily Star Sunday says City were prepared to include Javi Garcia in that deal, but all the figures couldn't be agreed.

Porto want at least £40m for Mangala, 22, while City wanted to pay £30m.
