Manchester City are set to go seriously go after Athletic Bilbao's Aymeric Laporte.

Reports suggest that Pep Guardiola is keen to add the French defender quickly having secured German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund on Thursday.

The Daily Mail suggests that City will activate Laporte's £39million release clause.

Bilbao recently made an improved offer to the 22-year-old but it is understood that Guardiola is eager to land the France U21 international despite the fact he is sidelined until August with a broken leg and dislocated ankle.
