Vincent Kompany and Raheem Sterling are expected to be back for Manchester City's clash with Newcastle United on Tuesday night.
Captain Kompany has been sidelined for six matches with a calf injury and is likely to start against the Magpies while winger Sterling has missed the past five games with a groin injury and could feature at some point at St James' Park.
Of the returning Kompany, City boss Manuel Pellegrini said: "Kompany has been injured so the other defenders have done well, but he will be an important help for the defence."
Regarding Sterling, he added: "We'll see, he's coming back from an important injury, we'll see if he can play some minutes."
