Sunderland are locked in talks for Manchester City defender Richard Dunne.
The Sun says Dunne has been told to wait before closing in on a £5m switch to Sunderland.
Black Cats boss Steve Bruce made an approach yesterday but was warned nothing will happen until Hughes finds a replacement.
