Manchester City are moving for Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt.

Barcelona had been regarded as favourites for the Dutchman, but Voetbal International says City are now positioned to land the youngster.

City boss Pep Guardiola regards De Ligt highly and is eager to bring the stopper to England this summer.

And now, despite competition from across Europe, City are regarded as favourites to sign the Holland international.

De Ligt won the Golden Boy this season as the world's best young player of the year.
