Manchester City have jumped into the battle for Sochaux midfielder Lucien Agoume.

Le 10 Sport says City made their move this week after Inter Milan offered €5m for the youngster.

Agoume has emerged as one of the hottest young transfer properties in France and while Inter are close to a deal, City are now in contact. Indeed, City have met with the player's minders and Sochaux over the past week.

City's intervention is a blow for Inter, which have been working on a deal for over a year.

For his part, Agoume has now pulled back to consider City's counter proposal.
