Manchester City midfielder Marcos 'Rony' Lopes is on the verge of joining Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco for £8.8million.

Manchester Evening News is reporting the impending arrival of Wolfsburg's Belgian international Kevin De Bruyne at City means Lopes has been deemed surplus to requirements.

A graduate of City's academy, the 19-year-old Portuguese starlet is yet to make his Premier League debut and has just one year remaining on his contract.

Lopes spent last season on loan at Lille, scoring three goals in 23 games.
