Manchester City youngster Jack Byrne was delighted to have earned a loan move to Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

Byrne is one of the most highly rated youngsters in the City development squad and he managed to impress last season while on loan at Dutch side SC Cambuur.

Now, Republic of Ireland U21 international Byrne has been snapped up by Rovers on another loan deal and the 20-year-old has gone on to express his delight upon the completion of the move to the Lancashire club.

The 20-year-old midfielder said: "I'm absolutely delighted and I cannot wait to get started.

"I know even when the fixtures came out the other day, I was looking at them and you get excited and you get a little tingle in your stomach.

"I've had that feeling since I spoke to Owen [Coyle] and since he asked me to come and play. It was a no-brainer for me straight away.

"It's an unbelievable club, which has won the Premier League, so hopefully I can help the boys out and we can kick on this season."
