Manchester City star Kevin de Bruyne says leaving Chelsea was the best decision of his career.

The Belgian was with Chelsea from 2012 to 2014, went on-loan to Genk and Werder Bremen, after which he moved to VfL Wolfsburg. Since 2015, De Bruyne has been with City.

"I decided to leave Chelsea, as I felt that I had no chance. I did not see the opportunities for playing time in this club," he said.

"Leaving Chelsea was the best solution for me. I needed to start from scratch in another team to get better. Then everything went fast. Even during the heavy moments in Chelsea I did not doubt my abilities.

"But I could not imagine that I would play for Manchester City and perform at the World Cup."
