Man City signing Torres blasts Valencia captain Parejo: I was blamed for Marcelino axe

Manchester City signing Ferran Torres has taken a swipe at Valencia captain Dani Parejo.

Torres developed well at Valencia in the past 12 months, making 44 appearances and scoring six goals last season, but has now been critical of his former club in an interview with Marca.

Midfield veteran Parejo was the target of his scathing criticism with Torres insisting: "I don't think he was a good captain with me."

He also claimed he was blamed for the acrimonious exit of former manager Marcelino.

Torres said: "I have to say that after three years of experience in the first team, all of this helped me mature and become mentally strong.

"Parejo is a great player but personally I have never had a relationship with him.

"When I joined the first team, when I was 17 years old, many weeks passed before he said a simple 'Good morning' to me.

"I don't think he was a good captain with me. The worst came with the departure of Marcelino. Kangin (Lee) and I were used as culprits in the locker room."
