Manchester City have shrugged off missing out on the signing of Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
The Mirror says City insist they refused to get caught up in an auction for De Jong after the starlet agreed a move to Barcelona .
Spanish champions Barca tied up a massive £63million deal for Ajax youngster De Jong on Wednesday night.
The 21-year-old will move to the Nou Camp from Amsterdam in the summer on a massive five-year deal that will pay him £16m per season.
But sources at Premier League champions City insist they are not complaining, after refusing to bid or to match De Jong's staggering £307,000-a-week salary.
