Manchester City have sent young defender Clayton McDonald on-loan to Macclesfield Town.

Reserve team coach Glyn Hodges told City's website: "It's a good move for Clayton and this gives him a step on the ladder of league football and a taster of what it's like.

"The deal is initially for a month, but there is scope there to extend it beyond that, so hopefully he can gain as much experience there as possible."
