Man City schedule medical for Leeds midfielder Phillips

Manchester City aim to close the signing of Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips by the weekend.

The England international saw City's offer for him accepted by Leeds last week. However, Phillips' summer break has delayed negotiations.

The Daily Mail says his medical tests are due to take place tomorrow and provided all goes according to plan his £45m move to the Etihad can be rubber-stamped.

Phillips has a deal with Leeds to 2024, but resisted attempts by management to open talks about a new deal during the season.

He is now set to complete a move to City, where he is seen as a potential replacement for former captain Fernandinho, who has just signed for Athletico Paranaense.

Phillips will become City's second signing of the summer after the £51million arrival of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.
