Manchester City are eyeing Espanyol left-back Aaron Martin.

The Sun says City are trying to beat Real Madrid to the signing of Espanyol prodigy Martin.

The left-back, 19, has played a huge role in the Catalan club's solid La Liga campaign.

Martin has a £26million release clause in his contract, which lasts until 2022.

That figure would rise to almost £35m in 2018 and with Espanyol under no pressure to sign an early deal would be preferable.

Pep Guardiola knows he needs to strengthen in that area but faces stiff competition from Real.
