Manchester City aim to outbid Manchester United for Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.
The Sun says City boss Pep Guardiola has made Ndombele, 22, his No1 target as a long-term successor to Fernandinho.
City are preparing a £70million bid for the France international in the summer and will compete with Manchester United and Juventus for him.
Dutch midfielder Frenkie De Jong was a target for Pep but will join Barcelona at the end of the season.
That has prompted City to land Ndombele, who played against them in the Champions League group stage.
City were also impressed with Ndombele's team-mate Houssem Aouar.
