Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho is set to be rewarded with a new contract following his fine performances this season, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Fernandinho arrived at City for a whopping £30million from Shakhtar Donetsk during the summer of 2013 but many were not convinced that the midfielder was worth the money following only a decent debut campaign.

In the last 12 months though, Fernandinho has proven to be a key component in the City squad which has enjoyed a remarkable resurgence and as a result of his fine performances, the midfielder is now set to be rewarded with a lucrative new contract by the Premier League giants.
