Manchester City pair Nedum Onuoha and Michael Johnson were delighted with victory over Tottenham.
"A few people had been on our backs so we're delighted with the win. I'd like to think it will give us the confidence to go forward.
"I was pleased with my goal - it's taken me a four years to get it so I am delighted."
Johnson also said the result was the culmination of hard work on the training ground.
"This has to be a turning point for us to get back to winning ways," he said.
"We have worked really hard for each other and I was knackered at the end of the game. We've stuck together and deserved the win today.
"I have played against Spurs three of four times so I am pleased to get a positive result against them today."
