Man City No2 Arteta: Anfield unique; opposition players freeze there

Manchester City assistant manager Mikel Arteta admits Liverpool's fans can rattle teams.

Arteta, speaking with Marca, says Liverpool's famous victory over Barcelona on their way to winning the Champions League didn't surprise him.

He said, "No, because in a tie, it is very difficult to beat them. Also, in my playing career, Anfield is the only field in which I had the feeling of 'pájara', of staying stuck.

"It happened to me with Arsenal, and we copped five. They make you one, two, you see red shirts flying ... and you get five. You say: 'I do not know what's going on, stop the game, please, because I do not know where I am'.

"The stands push a lot, the intensity they put on the field ... It's hard to explain, but it never happened to me anywhere other than Anfield. Barça surprised me by the form of some goals, but in Anfield you can get five without knowing. Neither in Spain nor in Greece or Germany did I have that feeling. Not even at Old Trafford."
