Manchester City's hopes of signing Lyon star Houssem Aouar will depend on whether they are in next season's Champions League.
The club are awaiting the result of their appeal of the two year Champions League ban that starts next season.
It is unclear if City will be able to play in the competition while the ban is under appeal.
And The Sun suggests that City have a very real interest in Aouar.
An Etihad source is quoted by the paper: "Pep knows this player very well – he is a top talent and clearly one of the best around for his age.
"He appeals because he can play right across the midfield and is at a good age with David Silva coming to the end of his career.
"Phil Foden will step up again next season and we have a lot of other talent in the youth ranks as well. We will see this summer."
But Aouar would want to play in the Champions League, and has many top European clubs on his tail.
That includes Liverpool and Arsenal.
