Man City monitoring River Plate young gun Kranevitter

Manchester City sent scouts to Argentina to cast an eye over Matias Kranevitter on the weekend.

The 20-year old defensive midfielder was in action for River Plate in the Superclasico against Boca Juniors in Buenos Aires on Sunday night and City were on hand to see him in action.

Kranevitter, who holds a European passport, is also a reported target for Italian giants AC Milan and Inter Milan.

His agent, Jose Luis Luraschi, has revealed that there is plenty of interest in his client who is being touted as Javier Mascherano's replacement in the Argentine national team.

"There are proposals from Italy, but he's also wanted in Spain, England and Portugal," he told Calciomercato.it.

"The teams who want him need to be of a high standard, because he's a high quality player."
