Man City midfielder Sterling: These 2 have replaced leaders Kompany and Silva

Manchester City midfielder Raheem Sterling says two players have stepped up since the departure of long time captain Vincent Kompany last year.

Sterling has insisted Manchester City have coped with the loss of Kompany and David Silva in the dressing room and named Ruben Dias and Kevin De Bruyne as players who have stepped into those roles.

"They're two players that played at the highest level for many years, they were here for so many years," Sterling told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"They were big characters in the dressing room, players that had won it, been there, done it. You look at the squad and it is a young team but you look at Ruben (Dias) who has come in, he speaks as much as Vinny (Vincent Kompany).

"He's a massive character. We haven't lost a voice in the dressing room, new people are stepping up to the plate. People like Kev (Kevin de Bruyne), he's the second captain and very vocal now. Fernandinho too.

"There has been a miss with Vinny because when he's there, I'm telling you, you know there's a match kicking off in 30 seconds. We've adjusted well."
