Man City midfielder Rodri on Real Madrid: We need courage, personality and respect

Manchester City midfielder Rodri believes they can match up well with Champions League opponents Real Madrid.

City are in Spain tonight for the first-leg of their round 16 tie.

Assessing City's chances in the tie, Rodri said Real should not be taken lightly, but that City were capable of getting a result at the Bernabeu to bring back to the Etihad in three weeks.

He explained: "It's a big club, they bought new players, they've made changes in their squad, but Real Madrid is always Real Madrid. That's the piece of armour if you like that they can always rely on. They are feared all over Europe. That's why we need to have courage, personality and respect for the opponent and knowing it's going to be very difficult.

"I think City have a big chance. We are a well respected team as well. I don't think they found it particularly enjoyable to draw City. To me, we are two of the biggest clubs in Europe. Our chances are there.

"Playing the second leg at home, with our people, we can take another step forward. It's important to get a result in Spain, especially to score a goal there and then at home with the help of our people, I think we'll make it."
