Man City midfielder Gundogan: Break good for Sane

Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan says the coronavirus suspension will be good for Leroy Sane.

Sane, fully recovered from knee injury, was honing in on his first appearance since August when football was halted indefinitely in March.

"For everyone the situation has its good and bad sides," said Gundogan.

"On one hand, Leroy had already trained with the team and he had his comeback in sight, even though he still had a few minor things. But he was almost back at playing again. Especially for your psyche, it's important to be able to play again after such a long time.

"On the other hand, he now has a bit more time to figure out those minor problems he still had. The fact that others can't play either is not so bad for him.

"Also the Euros were postponed until next year. It's bit like for Niklas Süle who might have missed the Euro. I spoke to him the other day. For him it's good that now he has a year more time to recover and then be fully in shape for the Euro, that's good for everyone. So the current situation also has some good sides for these guys."
