Oxford United boss Karl Robinson made the comparison after last night's Carabao Cup defeat to City.
“I'm happy about that but Iniesta, come on, he is on a different planet," said Foden, who was player of the tournament and scored twice in the final as England Under-17s won the World Cup in 2017.
“So for them to call me is massive."
He added: “It was massive, getting these cup games and run outs whenever I can and just keeping improving and hopefully one day I can be starting a lot more games.
“There are a lot of things still to improve, so I am just keeping my head down, and working hard and keep improving."
