Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho has jumped to the defence of Brazil teammate Neymar.

The PSG star has gone public to deny claims of sexual assault by a young woman who reportedly filed suit last Friday in Sao Paulo.

Fernandinho, with Neymar for the Copa America, told Globoesporte: "I received this information with a lot of sadness and I found it strange.

"Fifteen days until the girl denounces. But I think it will be clarified as soon as possible. I believe in the innocence of Neymar, we will support him so that it does not influence him on the ground.

"He knows he has all my support and all the support of the group. And as far as possible, we will give him our full support."
