Man City manager Guardiola: Ruben Dias gives us young back four

Pep Guardiola says Manchester City now have a young back four after signing Ruben Dias.

City have paid Benfica £65m for the 23-year-old defender, who could win his debut this weekend against Leeds United.

Speaking after Wednesday's EFL Cup win over Burnley, Guardiola said: "We know Ruben Dias's personality and I am sure he will be an incredible player for the next six or seven years.

"We're very happy to have him. Our back four are now a young team. We start training tomorrow and get going as quick as possible."

Nicolas Otamendi was sold to Benfica in a separate from Dias, ending his five-year stay at City.

And Guardiola was thankful of the Argentine's contribution in two Premier League title triumphs.

He added: "I have to thank Nicolas Otamendi, part of the incredible success we have had in recent years. The season we won the league with 100 points he was incredible. He played with a broken ankle, with 20 stitches, he had a great mentality so I wish him and his family all the best. He will be one of the things I will always remember about this club."
