Man City manager Guardiola: It was a process for Liverpool

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has sent a lot of praise in the direction of Liverpool and their boss Jurgen Klopp.

Guardiola was asked in an interview about the European champions and runaway Premier League leaders.

He spoke about how the Reds had been engaging in a process to evolve the first team and compete for trophies since Klopp was appointed.

They are now near certainties to win the Premier League, and in a good place to defend their Champions League title as well.

"Liverpool spent four or five years to win their first trophy last season," Guardiola told Sky Sports.

"It was a process. New players, investment, more and more, and after they got them they are the best team in the world right now.

"Sometimes people believe if you are Pep, Jurgen, or you are another [big] name, you have to win all titles every season with 2000 million points and 2000 million goals.

"Sometimes it's not possible, sometimes because of the opposition, sometimes you cannot do it. Not all the time in any sport has a team won everything every season all of the time."
