Man City, Man Utd warned over Lyon duo Dembele, Aouar: They're not worth it

Manchester City have been warned over their push for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar.

Aouar is up for sale at OL as they seek to balance their books and City are regarded as favourites for his signature.

Indeed, the midfielder is a favourite of City manager Pep Guardiola.

However, French pundit Pierre Menes has questioned their interest, along with that of Manchester United and OL teammate Moussa Dembele.

He said on Canal Football Club, "Do you think that one of these three players (Aouar, Dembélé, Memphis Depay) can claim to be a member of a large European club? I don't think so.

"We are still emerging, we hope, from a crisis where all the clubs, especially the big ones, have lost a lot, I am afraid that there are no offers at €50-60m."
