Manchester City have approached Lazio for striker Mauro Zarate.
Sky Italia says City have made contact with Lazio to register their interest for the fiery Argentine, a favourite of manager Roberto Mancini.
City will push through for a deal over Zarate should they fail to win the battle for Udinese star Alexis Sanchez.
Zarate has previous experience in England with Birmingham City.
