Man City keeper Hart proud to help England into U21 Euros final

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart was England's hero in their semifinal penalty shootout victory over U21 Euro hosts Sweden last night.

But Hart now misses Monday's European Championship final against Germany after he was booked in the 5-4 penalty shootout win.

Hart, who scored the second spot-kick, said: "As soon as I got booked I was determined to win for the boys.

"I'm over the moon the lads are through. We didn't make it easy but we showed character.

"I thought both my bookings so far were harsh but it's got nothing to do with what I think.

"Unfortunately, it's what the ref thinks."

Hart, who was booked for gamesmanship, added: "I didn't say a word, the referee told me not to so I didn't.

"I didn't do anything to take anything out of the game. I just had a bit of fun but the ref didn't see it that way.

"He's pulled out a yellow card. I'm sure he's got his reasons but, hopefully, I'll still be able to play - but I'm not going to hold my breath."

England boss Stuart Pearce will contact UEFA today and said: "I'm not so sure there is a rule you can't talk to the penalty taker."
