Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart will never take his place in Roberto Mancini's team for granted.
Indeed, Hart only has to see what happened to Shay Given to keep him motivated.
He said: "Obviously I was planning my options otherwise because I have total respect for Shay Given.
"He is a great goalkeeper and I am truly honoured to play instead of him, because he is one of my heroes in the Premier League, and training day-in day-out with him. It is a shame there is only one spot for a goalkeeper.
"Mancini is a demanding manager and that's what you want. Picking me in the first place was saying 'You'd better go out and show why I've put faith in you' and I've got a lot of respect for him for doing that.
I'm really thankful for everyone who's shown faith in me. My whole aim is to repay them. I have not had any run-ins with the City manager. It's not my nature."
