Man City keeper Given: I wouldn't celebrate goal against Newcastle

Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given insists he could never celebrate a goal against former club Newcastle United.

"There is no way I could punch the air or anything like that if we scored against Newcastle. Of course not," Given told the Evening Chronicle.

"I saw the way Dunny (Richard Dunne) reacted - or did not react - after scoring against us the other night, and I understood completely.

"He was at City for, I think, nine years. He was a great favourite with the supporters and the feeling was mutual. There was no way he could gloat about scoring against them.

"In the same way, I had - and would like to think I still have - such an affinity with the fans at Newcastle, and still have so many friends and know so many good people up there, I could not bring myself to celebrate."
