Man City keeper Given admits Stoke will decide their season

Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given says Stoke City can decide their season.

The two clubs meet at the Britannia Stadium for the second part of their 10-day trilogy, with Roberto Mancini's men knowing even a draw would put them in the Champions League places.

It would also set them up nicely for next Wednesday's fifth-round Cup replay in the Potteries - with the winners due to go to Chelsea in the quarter-finals.

The Republic of Ireland star added: "If we want to finish in the top four and win the FA Cup, we have to overcome whatever Stoke, and any other team for that matter, can pitch at us.

"We've some big games coming up, apart from the two with Stoke, against Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham.

"We will be tested and people will judge us after that. This is the business end of the season.

"We'll go to Stoke looking to cause them problems and, because it's one of our games in hand, it's vital we get a good result.

"Then we'll have to go there again for the replay and, hopefully, by the end of it all we'll be experts at defending long throw-ins!"
