Manchester City have jumped into the race for River Plate defender Lucas Martínez Quarta.

Mundo Deportivo says City are amongst a scramble of some of Europe's biggest clubs chasing Martinez Quarta's signature.

Real Madrid, Valencia and Inter Milan are also interested in the centre-half.

The 23-year-old has played 20 games for River Plate this season.

Martínez Quarta has so far also played two international matches for Argentina.
